Null Spectger Station! Chapter Two: The First

They were about halfway up now. Power had been cut off inside the tower and it was pitch black. The small windows inside completely covered by the shadows cast by the setting sun outside. Darkness surrounded at them and nagged at the back of their minds, thoughts of Stormtroopers lying in wait kept them wary. Still, the local sensor droids indicated no life inside the tower except them. “Break here,” ordered Gwynzer, “quick drink of water and we’ll keep going.” “Where are they boss?” asked Slyfox, a quiet unassuming guy yet deadly accurate with his A280. “They’ll be around,” Ati, the squad’s heavy weapon specialist patted his rocket launcher like a pet, “and when they show up, BOOM!” He laughed and the rest of the guys joined in, happy to relieve some of the tension. “Keep it down guys,” Gwynzer chided as he chuckled, “maybe they’ve got some sensor block operating.” “Not a chance,” answered Thomas, “we’re still showing on the scans so it’s picking up alright.” As if to ...

Null Specter Station! Chapter One: Alone

The armoured convoy slowed and came to a stop at the foot of the winding mountain pass, the hum and whine of their repulsor engines echoing back from the towering rocky faces around them. The setting sun had already dipped below the peaks of the cliffs, throwing the valley in to cold dark shadow. There was no other sound, even though the T1-B gun turrets continuously scanned for resistance, there was no evidence of the Imperial presence expected. Benu checked the sensor scans from the rear of the armoured Freerunner, other than his own vehicle and the rest of the rebel attack group around him the area was clear. “Maybe it’s a trap.” He thought to himself, “I bet the pass is mined and a kill zone prepped.” He relayed the sensor detail to the rest of the armoured column before reaching up and opening a com frequency. “Sir, still no sign of enemy activity here, maybe it’s a trap.” “Perhaps, stay alert and secure the area. We’ve finished up here and we’re going to advance u...

The Hex Wing Series: Epilogue

It had been six weeks since the encounter at the Castell shipyards. Cosmic exited hyperspace and brought his X-Wing round on a vector to dock with the Hammerhead Corvette Vestige. Once in the hangar he jumped out of the ship and made his way forward to the crew quarters. The members of Remnant Squadron sat quietly around a table waiting for him. “Guys I…” “We know Cosmic. She was your friend too.” Saywah interrupted him. Angels loss had affected everyone deeply, but they had now passed the point of condolences and sorry for your loss. At least Cosmic shared their loss at a personal level, having flown with Angel longer than any of them. “Thanks Saywah, that’s not what I was going to say. I have a mission for you.” “I don’t know if we’re ready for that yet Cosmic.” Interjected Leaph, looking around at his squad mates. “We’ve not really worked on how to cover her role and…” “This might change your mind.” Comsic cut Leaph off and placed a small audio recorder on the tabl...

The Hex Wing Series Chapter Seven

“Grand Admiral, message from the other Star Destroyer.” “Put it through.” Karktiss turned away from Ria Tarmak to face the holo projector and gasped as the shimmering blue image of a man bearing the rank bars of a Moff appeared before him. “Moff J’ar Dokast! I thought you were dead!” He bowed his head in deference and kept his gaze low as he waited for Moff Dokasts’ answer. “I hear you have granted yourself the title of Grand Admiral Karktiss? No, as you can see I am not dead. After the battle of Endor I took command of the ISD Specter in order to put in to action the Emperors final plans. Plans to maintain the order of the Empire in the event of his demise. I have not received favourable reports of your conduct so far Karktiss, it seems you have wasted considerable resources all in order to preserve your own neck.” “Not true Moff Dokast!” cried Karktiss, looking up to the Moffs holo image. “I have been trying to regroup with other Imperial forces but we have been hounded...
