Imperial Convoy Ambush - A Short Story

The Resurgence snapped back in to normal space, squadrons of snub fighters following shortly after. On board the Nebulon B Frigate Admiral K’Renyo looked at the sensor readouts, as he watched the screen an object appeared on it, followed by another, then another. Within seconds there were four other ships being reported by The Resurgences’ computers. “Just as we expected,” he thought to himself, “maybe that intelligence was worth paying for after all.” The Resurgence wasn’t capable of taking part in the Rebel’s ambush, refitted as a medical frigate it was here only to support the three fighter squadrons. The Alliance didn’t plan on staying around long enough for the Imperial Navy to stop by, this was to be a simple hit and fade mission. The frigates more advanced sensor’s would make sure that they remained out of sight until the last minute, then the Y-Wing bombers would be able to unleash their payload of proton torpedoes, tearing apart the Imperial supply con...

My Taloraan - A Short Story

I’ve often been asked what it was like, that early stand off between the Imperial Navy and the Alliance forces. You have to understand that this wasn’t the kind of confrontation we typically sought out, we preferred hit and fade tactics. Sure, some may say it was terrorism but I don’t see it that way. We attacked only strategic targets and tried to keep engagements as far from populated areas as possible. That day though, something went wrong. Our intel was way off. We never should have been there. We knew there was a risk, it was an Imperial planet after all, but we needed that Tibanna gas. Someone way above my pay grade made the choice to go for Taloraan and we managed to scrape together a convoy. It wasn’t much, but back then it was a mammoth task, every ship and every drop of fuel had to count in those days. The Alliance wasn’t exactly on the preferred customer list in the Imperial ship yards! I think we had a couple fighter squadrons, might have to check the histor...

Defending the Tyrant - A short story

The pilots of Hammer squadron were relaxing on board the Star Destroyer Tyrant as it cruised above the ice planet Hoth. Although dressed and alert for combat, Hammer Squadron wasn’t expecting to take much of a role in the battle raging on the planets surface, confident that the Tyrants turbo lasers would quickly dispatch any Rebel transports hoping to make safe their escape. As the pilots talked and joked over mugs of caf, one sat silently in a corner of the room, listening intently to the ship’s com as news of the battle was broadcast. A data pad sat on the table in front of him, cycling through various ship readouts of rebel star fighters. Twigs never left anything to chance, he was always checking ship layouts, battle recordings and sensor readings for anything that could help him find a weakness on the Rebels shielded craft. “You ever stop?” asked Talon, taking his seat across the table and placing a steaming cup of caf in front of Twigs. “Well I could, but then ...

Redemption on Rhenvar - A Short Story

Lieutenant Robod ‘Oddball’ Falin hefted the heavy T-21 repeating blaster in his arms, the familiar weight comforting after his recent spell working beside the pilots of Hammer squadron. He’d spent two standard months serving as ground liaison officer to the TIE squadron, before managing to secure a posting back to his fellow ground pounders. The icy wind howled around him, whipping snowflakes into clouds of angry white flies and the bitter cold seeped into his fingers as they tightened around the rifle. He paused to listen to the vibrato of a faraway explosion as it echoed around the towering canyon walls before plunging on in to the storm. Around him, scores of Snowtroopers silently pushed forward against the wind, almost invisible against Rhen var’s snowy landscape. Captain Gwynzer raised the macrobinoculars to his eyes and scanned the distant hilltop, he squinted in an effort to see more detail through the rising blizzard, flurries of snow masking any detail. He had ...

Fall of the Dawning Star - A Short Story

Zaphod looked up from the Disrupter rifle’s sniper scope, thankful that the tower he now found himself in offered some shade from Tatooine’s blazing twin suns. He’d joined the Rebel Alliance a number of years ago and was regarded as one of its top marksmen. He reached for the comlink at his side as he settled back behind the familiar rifle’s sights. “Imperial troops massing near the Cliff Trail outpost, no sign of them at the crash site yet.” “Understood,” replied Athlon Jeyor, “maintain position, we’re moving up in the Freerunner now. Any sign of survivors?” “Can’t see any movement,” answered Zaphod, as he shifted his gaze to the smoking ruins in the city, “The ship’s on fire and it’s carved a trench through whatever used to be there.” The Alliance had just completed a rescue mission from Mos Entha and while attempting to escape, drifted a little too close to the Imperial garrisoned city. Turbo lasers perched on top of the overlooking cliffs had managed to hit The ...

Hello Troopers!

Well...what can I tell you? After some careful consideration I thought I'd get in on the whole blogging thing right at the end. I may get a facebook account in a couple years once that begins to die off! The whole point of this is to use it as a creative outlet, sharing stories and stuff related to things I'm interested in, namely Star Wars and a computer game called First Strike. The first couple posts will be some short stories I wrote for the First Strike website, although set in the Star Wars universe, the characters are all named after players from the game community. I had a good response from the folks over on the forums after I posted the stories, obviously I don't expect to get the same sort of thing here! As well as the stories (which won't be that frequent anyway!) I'll also be sharing news from the First Strike community, and posting my own opinions and some insights from the development of the game. That's right, I'm part of the development ...
